I remember those weekends, those fucking perfect weekends, safely tucked away in Pedro’s house, his family would be gone and it’d be just me and him. Everything disappeared, like it was only me and him and the rest of the world didn’t exist. Then I’d walk away out onto his porch and look at the sky and just remind myself that it was real, that I was in Barcelona, that everything was actually happening. I’d look up and I’d see the the lights from the Magic Fountains of Montjuic light the sky, even all the way over to Pedro’s house, that’s how bright those lights were. I’d snap back into reality, and during that time, I didn’t care, snapping back into reality was even better than fading into my dreams. Every time I disappeared, Pedro would always find me on his porch and he’d always wonder why I liked it so much…and that’s why.
